Join Austin Unconducted and curator Matthew Stoner, co-founder of Hyde Park Storytelling, for a one-of-a-kind evening. Three storytellers share true, personal stories and each story is thematically paired with a musical performance chosen to mirror, deepen, or transform the emotional arc of the story just told.
The Program:
Suite for String Orchestra - Frank Bridge
Plan & Elevation - Caroline Shaw
Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap
Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber
About the Curator:
Matthew Stoner is the director of Hyde Park Storytelling (HPS), a live backyard storytelling show in Austin, Texas. Since 2014, HPS has grown into one of Austin’s most beloved events, an evening of real, personal stories shared in front of a warm and welcoming audience. What started as a creative experiment among friends and roommates in a Hyde Park backyard has evolved into a free, public, ASL-interpreted show that now welcomes over 250+ audience members and takes place 6 times per year. Rooted in community and connection, HPS highlights storytellers from all walks of life, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, first-time storytellers, and anyone with a true and personal story to share.
The Storytellers:
Roy Lazorwitz
Hank Opal Jove
Isaac Fuentes
This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
